About Union County Saddle Club
The Union County Saddle Club was organized in 1986 in Blairsville, Georgia, by a group of interested people under encouragement of the Blairsville Kiwanis Club. The purpose of the Saddle Club is to promote the equine industry and recreation. Our top priority is to benefit the health, safety, and welfare of the horse and rider of all skill levels. The Union County Saddle Club is dedicated to adding value to our fellow horsemen and to our local community as well. We are a non-profit [Section 501 (c) 3] community based, family oriented organization comprised of all volunteer members that are dedicated to the education and skill development in all disciplines pertaining to equine activities.
Our club operates in Northeast Georgia and falls under the Union County Recreation Department. The brand new Union County Arena is conveniently located on Nottely Dam Road (Hwy. 325), just off of Highway 515, between Blairsville and Blue Ridge, Georgia. Our state-of-the-art facility includes a well lit enclosed show arena, an outdoor practice area with obstacles and round pen, concession stand, and a club house with a meeting room and bathrooms.
From April through October, we host a number of different events such as open horse shows, barrel racing events, team roping, ranch sorting, special invitational shows for the handicapped, rodeos, trail rides, clinics and exhibitions, and the annual Christmas Dinner and Awards Presentation. Recognizing its important role in the equine community, the club has always been a strong supporter of the local 4-H club. We also participate in parades just for fun.
The facilities are also available to other clubs, groups and organizations that provide valuable and vital programs for those in Union County.
Please take some time and check out our website. If you have any questions, please contact one of us or come by one of our monthly meetings. We are always looking for new members. We welcome any horse or non horse people willing to join and come out to help.
Meetings are held at the clubhouse on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m.
